<h2 style="text-align: justify;" dir="ltr"><span>Histoire du fonds </span></h2>
<div style="text-align: justify;" dir="ltr"><span>Victor Gélu naît à Marseille le 12 septembre 1806 de Victor-Etienne boulanger et de Rosalie Margalet couturière. C’est en 1840 qu’il publie son premier ouvrage </span><span><em>Chansons provençales et françaises</em>, </span><span>suivi en 1854 par </span><em>Lou Crédo de Cassian</em><span> inspiré par la mort de sa fille Fossette. Il écrit un roman social </span><em>Nouvè Grané</em><span> en 1855 qu’il ne réussit pas à faire éditer. En 1856 paraissent ses </span><em>Chansons provençales</em><span> qui seront censurées. En 1857 il achève ses </span><em>Notes biographiques</em><span>. Il meurt le 2 avril 1885 dans la maison de son fils, rue du Jardin des Plantes à Marseille. Son œuvre complète sera publiée un an après sa mort, préfacée par Frédéric Mistral. </span></div>
