Bordes Description An account of the resource Il est question de La Cansoun dis Àvi dans une lettre de Pierre Devoluy adressée à Frédéric Mistral datant du 29 mars 1906. L'expéditeur y fait part de ses impressions enthousiastes sur la chanson que Mistral vient de lui envoyer. Devoluy demande à Mistral s'il possède un air pour la chanter et pour qu'il la publie dès le prochain numéro du journal Prouvènço ! (Cf. Correspondance Frédéric Mistral - Pierre Devoluy : 1895-1913 / publ. et annotée par Charles Rostaing, 1984, p.687-688). Pierre Devoluy est à l'époque rédacteur en chef du mensuel Prouvènço ! Auriflour de la causo felibrenco. La Cansoun dis Àvi sera effectivement publiée dans le n°16 du 7 avril 1906, signée par Frédéric Mistral, à Maillane le 27 mars 1906. La chanson y est précédée d'une petite introduction indiquant : « Èr : mescladis de E ièu quand la veirai  Ié dirai... e de Eisabèu Ti boutèu Soun plen de sarriho... » Ce numéro de Prouvènço ! est conservé à la médiathèque du CIRDÒC (cote magasin AF).
