Cette &oelig;uvre ne connaît pas à Paris le succès de Mirèio et vaut à Mistral des attaques contre ses idées "séparatistes". Le Poème raconte l'histoire de Calendal, pêcheur d'anchois de Cassis, devant accomplir pour conquérir la jeune femme qu'il aime une série d'exploits.
