<p style="text-align: justify;">Originaire de Turquie, le châtaignier est devenu au XVIe siècle, notamment dans les Cévennes, un arbre de civilisation. <br />Jusqu'à récemment, il a été, en Cévennes comme en Limousin, pour la multitude de ces usages, moteur d'économies locales. <br />Quelques citations littéraires illustrent la présentation (Albert Arnavielle, Auguste Bénazet, Jean Boudou).</p>
